Kristi Wells is a former President of Colorado Collaborative Divorce Professionals,
and past Chair of the Family Law Section Executive Council. Her practice focuses
exclusively on domestic relations issues with an emphasis on complex issues such as
trusts, pre-marital agreements, closely held business interests, taxation, benefits and
executive compensation. Approximately 50% of Kristi’s practice is Collaborative divorce.
Kristi has written and lectured extensively on family law topics as well as having been a
tax commentator for NPR’s Morning Edition. Most recently, Kristi published a two-part
article for the Colorado Lawyer entitled A Primer on Executive Compensation in a Colorado
Divorce – Parts 1 and 2, May and June 2022. She also co-authored The Executive
Compensation Handbook: Stock Option Awards, Restricted Stock Grants, Cash Bonuses,
Incentives and Other Non-qualified Deferred Compensation in Divorce, published by the
American Bar Association. Kristi is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, has been named to
the Best Lawyers in America List, and has been named a Colorado Super Lawyer each
year since 2015, residing on the Top 50 Women and Top 100 Attorneys Colorado Super
Lawyer Lists in 2016, and 2020-2026. Kristi enjoys sailing new waters with her husband,
Wim, and creating astonishing artwork.
